AMIT PATIL

LITIGATION CHAMBERS

ABOUT

APLC is a full-service dispute resolution chamber providing legal services in litigation, arbitration, and mediation. The Chamber’s work is founded on a considered reading of each matter and a disciplined approach to its resolution – whether through the courts, arbitral tribunals, or negotiated settlements.

The Chamber is led by Amit Patil, who practices independently before Courts and Arbitral Tribunals, primarily before the Bombay High Court and Courts/Tribunals within Mumbai. APLC accepts mandates from individuals, businesses, government bodies, and institutions. Pro bono matters are considered on a selective basis where genuine need or public interest warrants.

Pro Bono

APLC selectively accepts pro bono mandates in matters of genuine public interest or individual hardship. Inquiries are welcome and treated with the same seriousness as any other brief.

ARBITRATION

Technical disputes.
Rigorous advocacy.

Arbitration is not simply litigation by another name. It demands an understanding of the underlying industry, the ability to examine and present technical evidence effectively, and the capacity to manage complex evidentiary records before a tribunal. Amit's prior training as a mechanical engineer, combined with nearly a decade of dispute resolution practice, makes him particularly well-suited to technically intensive arbitral proceedings.

APLC advises and represents clients at every stage — from contract review and risk assessment at the pre-dispute stage, through notice drafting, jurisdictional analysis, and the full conduct of arbitral trials before institutional and ad hoc tribunals.

THE APPROACH

Arbitral advocacy at APLC is brief-led and evidence-first. The chamber does not treat arbitration as an extension of court litigation — procedural choices, witness strategy, and expert engagement are considered from the outset. Clients receive frank, early assessments of the strength of their case, and are not encouraged to pursue proceedings that do not merit the cost.

AREAS OF FOCUS

Construction & Infrastructure Contracts

EPC disputes, delay and disruption claims, defect liability, force majeure, extension of time, and quantum-related matters under FIDIC and bespoke construction contracts. Technical familiarity with project documentation and site records is central to this work.

SaaS & Software Agreements

Disputes arising from technology service agreements — including SLA breaches, software non-performance, scope creep, IP licensing conflicts, data-related claims, and exit and termination disputes.

Government Tenders & Public Contracts

Arbitral disputes arising from government procurement and public works contracts — including scope disputes, price variation claims, termination for convenience, and liquidated damages under statutory and contractual frameworks.

Court-Referred & Institutional Arbitration

Representation in matters referred to arbitration under the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996, and proceedings before institutional bodies including MCIA and DIAC
